summer vacation
Written by jadis
At Jul 16, 2008, 1:03:00 AM

I have about a month of vacation time now before classes start in the fall. I haven't gotten all caught up on answering comments or looking at artwork yet, but I am going to submit a few photos I took last month, just so they don't get lost and forgotten.

6 new hamster babies, born this past Sunday. third batch of babies, the first NON-accidental babies we have had, offspring of Cowboy and Cowgirl, I guess that makes them hamster calves or something

ummmm...not much other news. did well in summer school, it's over now but grades haven't been posted yet.

keeping busy, with all sorts of random summer things.
Summer School

HI Sa.n friends!!!!

the reason I am not around now Is because I am taking a Shakespeare class in summer school, and it is keeping me very busy right now. I will probably be back for a little while in July when my class is over, and post some Photos I took of pretty things I see on KSU campus :)

so far I am loving Shakespeare and making A's on all my homework and tests.

and right now, I am supposed to be working on my takehome exam, which is about how Shakespeare compared love and war in the play "Troilus and Cressida" so I'd better get back to work, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing great and haven't forgotten about you all and am looking forward to returning when I ahve more time again.

Love, Ruth.

OK

here's the plan

for the next three years I am going to be in School and my success therein will depend entirely on not giving up, not losing interest not getting discouraged because those are the things that will keep me trying hard.

I'm and A's and F's student, I do really well in school when I try,but if I get discouraged or distracted or something, and lose my focus, then I fail completely, totally, spiraling down into total dysfunction until I pick up the pieces, do something different for awhile, and then, eventually, find myself back in school trying again.

so for right now my entire effort needs to be getting my lifestyle organized in such a way that I will not fall into that decline in the next tree years.

I have three art sites I maintain right now....this one, DA and SA. three works better than one because then I only post 1/3 the amount of stuff on any given one, so I don't overwhelm people who  watch me quite as much. there are a few people who watch me on more than one, but nobody yet watches me on all 3 I think, so I can still post tremendous amounts of stuff without way too much in any one place.

my plan is to get to the point where I will just answer all my comments in order each day and don't get behind. I think I am going to have to start deleting everything when I get behind rather than try to catch up, because I won't afford the time for catch-up.

but before I start deleting everything, I am going to make a real effort for the next week or so to master the skill of keeping caught up rather than catching up. that's the plan.

oh in Hamster news, only one of the baby hamsters was a boy, my husband traded him to the pet store for a girl from a different breeder, so we can (when she is old enough) have more babies without inbreeding, I'll post a photo of her soon.we also gave one to a friend, so we have 4 left which we are keeping but Pan goes to Hayley (my stepdaughter) when she gets back from Europe

Mood: brave

hey I just realized I left a sorta depressed journal on here, and I'm feeling fine now, so I figured I really ought to update.

I have passed through my "letting the dust settle" phase of life and am moving forward again, into the picking up the pieces and starting forward again phase...whether in the right direction remains to be seen, but it's always the right direction if we are learning and growing and doing good things, right?

I have finished with the mental health evaluation I was having done on me, and the verdict is I am type one bi-polar now, which means I am getting worse, and likely to continue getting worse If I continue to refuse medication. haven't yet decided what to do about that yet. I guess I'll wait and see if I really do get worse. I have know people more manic than me who managed well without medication for many years.

apart from that, I learned that I fail to meet the criteria for asperger syndrome because I am fascinated by human behavior, I have through that study gained somewhat a capacity for empathy, and I have always had friends(tho usually only one at a time and I used to use them to help me avoid having to interact with other people) ((actually, I still sometimes use my husband for that...lol))

the way I am fascinated with human behavior is typical of someone with aspergers, but the fact that human behavior (and in some cases particular people^^; ) is the subject I have chosen to be obsessed with, that disqualifies me form that diagnosis.

seems kind of unfair to me somehow, but what do I know, I'm crazy and all...lol

every other criteria for Aspergers, I fit perfectly, more or less.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I go forward:

I successfully finished the NaPo challenge, by posting a poem in my DA journal every day for the whole month of April.

I'm still planning on going back to School and trying to prepare myself for that,

I've started editing my NaNo novel again, so I might post some bits of it here so you can help me make it better(it's pretty bad...got good characters and a good story line, but I suck at description, and pretty much all other aspects of writing, so It needs alot of improvements.

I also have a new story I am working on, which will show up here eventually also. I'm hoping it will be short, but like everything else, it seems to be complicating itself.

it's spring, I take photos in the spring, might post a few.

also planning a few other art projects.

and trying to sort out some things I did wrong when I was Irrational, so I can clean up the mess and just go on

I'm feeling really optimistic right now.
posting some pictures just to cheer me up a bit

*******

I've been a little down for a few days now(maybe more like a week, I don't quite remember)

getting really behind on things.

I thought I was doing better the past couple of days but today i just feel totally hopeless and  I'm sure it's just nothin really and will pass soon (long details are on my DA if you really wanna know, I don't suggest it, hence no link)

so I'm gonna post the rest of those old bug photos I was gonna post a while back before I started posting Hamster photos

Hamsters are doing fine, by the way.

I have a sheezy art account now too, so if you are lonely there, visit me. I posted some little digital doodles there which can be seen nowhere else. [link]

hamster and school update
Written by jadis
At Apr 15, 2008, 2:32:49 AM

the baby hamsters are doing fine, they are still growing fast, we are feeding them the extra things suggested by the website and making sure they stay warm enough.

today I went to KSU campus just cause I was in the area, and I talked to my English adviser and got permission to enroll in classes for summer and fall. one of my fall classes is closed so I am on the waiting list, or I will have to take something different and take it in the spring

I LOVE KSU.

I'm on the down cycle of my bi-polar disorder right now, so I am not very energetic or enthusiastic in general right now, but KSU is so awesome, I wandered around campus for a couple of hours just overwhelmed with how good it is to be going home to that place.

I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to do this, and contrary to popular opinion I really believe I am not going to fail or quit because this is what I want, this Is so completely what I want, and I have always been a really good student when I wanted to be.

I've kept up on my poem every day for the month of April thing, I just posted them on my DA journal for the last 3 days when I haven't been online. it's been harder than I expected, and some of the poems have been pretty minimal (in a long and rambling sort of way)...but it's been a good learning experience, and i feel good that so far I have done it every day even on days when I was busy and days when I feel very uninspired.

OH NO!!!! hamster crisis

Puddle (the mother Hamster) is dead this morning, we don't know why. the babies are fine so far.

they have been eating solid food and drinking from the water bottle, but it was our understanding they still needed to nurse a few more weeks

all prayers and suggestions for my poor orphaned baby hamsters appreciated :(

hamster update, Shakespeare, NaPoWriMo
Written by jadis
At Apr 5, 2008, 1:21:30 AM

Hamster babies:

8 days old
they are growing  they are toddling around the cage they all have fur now, so cute, one black and white like the dad (Cow)two light tan like the mother (Puddle, aka Buddy), and three in various shades of darker brown with a stripe down the back, like button the one who died before they were born. happy we got some like Button cause she was my fav.

Shakespeare:
I found out a few days ago that I get to take a Shakespeare class this summer. I was already planning on reading Shakespeare this summer, but this will be a 3 credit hour college class crammed into three weeks. I love summer school and usually get better grades in summer school, but that's gonna be alot of reading in a short time, and I have never read any Shakespeare before, so I am getting myself prepared for it by reading some Shakespeare now, instead of waiting till I get done with the "dark Tower" books, of which I am in the middle of  #3. I like Shakespeare so far. I read Shakespeare in the morning when my mind is still clear, and read "dark tower" in the evening when I'm too fried to read Shakespeare but still good enough for Stephen King.

I'm doing the NAPoWri Mo challenge, writing a poem every day for the whole month of April. since many of them are bad and most of them are quite random, those are posted each day on my DA journal. here's a link if you want to read them. I don't especially recommend it tho.[link]

any that are really good I will post here later.

that reminds me I haven't posted one yet for today, better go do that

yesterday my son Neil looked into the hamster cage, and came back yelling "THEY HAVE BABIES IN THERE!!!!"

well we were very surprised 'cause the original three were all supposed to be girls.

given how long we have had them, either Button was a boy, or Cow is a boy. we don't yet know which.

but in spite of their youth, Puddle(the mother) and Cow (the aunt or father) seem to both be taking their parental duties quite seriously, so we have high hopes for the six little pink wrinkled lumps with legs.

we are trying not to disturb them, so no good pictures yet.
another year older and farther behind...

Ok, Monday I turned 47....an age really no different at all than 46, not a bad age, just a very insignificant sort of age-change.

the list of things I want to do just keeps getting longer the older I get...I add things to the list faster than I could possibly ever do things...lol..oh well.at least I'll never run out of things I want to do.

I've been a bit busy this week...kids on spring break, birthday things, family things church things, paperwork to go back to school next year things, I'm trying to read a long book, spring is here and I'd rather be outside, etc.

that's why I am a bit behind on answering comments and haven't finish posting the old photos...

but this morning I saw crocuses blooming in the yard, and felt compelled to take photos...the first spring flowers are a bit like the first 4 leaf clover of the season...photos must be taken of them, even if they are not especially pretty or impressive.

so...I am going to post a batch of pictures of them, and would like you to tell me which of the pictures you like best as far as background and cropping and such, ok?

...people on Sa.n give such good feedback

thanks for everything

this shall be another warning of may older photos soon to be submitted here again (probably spread out over the next week or so)

I was looking for a fat caterpillar photo on my Photoshop organizer, and Aubyn cam in and wanted to help me crop photos, so we found a bunch of photos and cropped and resized, all good stuff of course...lol...[  because Jadis is easily entertained, remember? ]

so, here they come again, hope you don't mind too much(many of these will be insect related photos from 2006....it was a good year for bugs)

I'd like to apologize in advance for the many old photos I am about to post.

I also would like to apologize for the fact that I have so far been too lazy to learn how to make a link on journals and comments here, so I just naming names to give credit still.

I saw a picture by arpie of a little dragon with luna moth wings, so it reminded me of these luna moth pictures I had taken last summer, so I went looking for them and found all sorts of other things along the way from last summer, mostly in the "Jadis is easily entertained" category ...as in, I will take a photo...or...a bunch of photos...of just about anything, because I think everything is infinitely interesting and attractive...

however, I have maybe not quite mastered the art of showing you in the photo why I found it so interesting and attractive, so some of these might seem kinda pointless to some of you.

for this I apologize.

I have seen so much wonderful art here and met so many wonderful people here just in the past week, I can't keep track of them all. I'm so glad I decided to come back here again after all this time.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all better and looking at all your artwork and reading all the things you have written.

I have just come through a really bad time in my life, but it was a time of great growth and learning and I am better now and I am ready to apply all that growth and learning so expect a huge outpouring of very random stuff in my gallery here in the next few weeks, months, years, however long it takes.

It may still be gray and freezing outside, and everyone still has the flu, but as far as I'm concerned, spring is upon us, life is good, I'm ready to go forward again better than ever.

much better.

I have not done anything with this account for about a year and a half, and things have changed arround here since that time. aparrently the way literature submissiona are processed was changed, so now every quoataion mark or apostrophy in my old poetry has become a long string of random characters. I have been trying to edit those and make them readable again, deleting a few of my more pointless submissions. etc.

I don't know if watchers are notifed when things are edited here, if so I apologize to people who still watch me after all this time.

I'll probably be submitting a few pictures to bring my gallery a little more up to date here.

in real life, my life is sortof in chaos right now so I don't know If I'll be on here much in the future or not.
the first 10 get to make me make something thing....
Written by jadis
At Aug 18, 2006, 10:57:26 PM

ok several have posted this, and I have commented on a few, tho few of those few have actually commited to make anything for me, but just for the record, here it is....

the first 10 people who comment on this journal can ask me to make them something. If you are non-local, as In I can't give it to you in person, it must be something I can give you over the internet. if you are local, that can be negotiated. However If you are non-local and are willing to pay for whatever it may cost to get it to you, you can request anything, and if it is feasable, I will do it.

it can be photo, story, poem, non-fiction, pencil drawing, marker drawing, painting, cut paper, folded paper, candles, fractals, sculpture, jewelry, stuffy, anything you think I could do even if I have never done it, as long as I am able to get the materials needed.

I love to try new differant things.

since this gallery shows only a small fraction of the range of art styles I do you are welcome to look at my DeviantArt account to get Ideas also. my username there is jadisofeternity for art, and timerise for writing.

since not alot of people actually read my journals here yet, I'll be very surprized if I actually get 10 requests, on DA where more people watch me I only got one. so I hope I atleast get a few requests.

I'm back from vacation.

Hi again everybody!!! (or those two or three people who might actually read this, anyhow)

I am back from my family vacation trip, it was good. we went lots of places and saw lots of things and took lots of pictures, some of which may eventually be posted here.  also drew a few pictures and made a very simple pikachu plushie, which will also be posted if I ever find the picture I took of it. cause I love adding to the bizzare diversity of my gallery. yeah.

school starts this week (for those of you who don't know,I work in a special education classroom for 5th and 6th grade children with behaviour disorders)so I have only a few days to get all caught up on my messages here as well as on my two DA accounts and several DA groups and such. and I haven't even looked at my email yet, so who knows what awaits me there....

ever notice how the world just goes on without you when you are gone?
vacation warning
Written by jadis
At Jul 25, 2006, 7:46:33 PM

I shall be leaving on a vacation trip Friday morning and will be gone for about two weeks. I am taking a laptop with me, so I might be on now and then if the hotels happen to have internet service, but not very often probably. I'll try to get a few more differant things posted in my gallery between now and then so it won't seem so empty.

we are going to Salt Lake City, Yellowstone, and visiting Mount Rushmore on the way home. I'll probably take pictures, and who knows, might even post some along the way.

I'm also planning to do lots of drawing and some craft projects, which probably won't be posted till after I return. I also plan to do some writing, which may or may not ever get posted :)

random art, coming soon
Written by jadis
At Jul 19, 2006, 12:36:00 AM

I have finally decided to go ahead and post a random sampling of art previously posted on DA here also, just so people here will know what sort of an artist I am, until I finally get around to maybe posting some new stuff here. Also I want to just figure out how the submission procces here works, and the easiest way to learn is to just do it.
